The Portlaoise Plane

The Portlaoise Plane,(1908/12) 1st aeroplane to be built & flown in Southern Ireland, manufactured in Maryborough/Portlaoise by the Aldritt Bros. Billy Rogers and John Conroy and successfully flown over the Great Heath of Maryborough (See report here: ... st-sussex/ ) missing from the town for close on 40 years, discovered in an East Sussex museum in 1912 by Joe Rogers, is now finally back home in Ireland.

Hi Brianvincent,

I had heard some rumours about this, do you know where the aircraft is currently located?

Re the Portlaoise Plane recently repatriated from East Sussex, it's in a Dublin store just now awaiting restoration.

Please note the year it was found in EastSussex was 2012 not 1912 as stated previously.
