Best of luck with the type ratings, i did mine in CAE a while back and really enjoyed it. Make sure you get out to Harleem for a few nights out, its a college city so good fun and i remember there being at least 2 Irish pubs there too.
shamrock/heavy if you have any advice on accommodation perhaps you could send me a pm. I received an accommodation list from CAE today but any advice would be most welcome.
As for the accommodation, off the top of my head I stayed in a house in a place called Nieuw Vennep or something like that (it should be on the list). I would recommend this one for a few reasons. Firstly theres 2 supermarkets within 30 seconds walk which is really handy if your not bringing the motor with you. 5 mins walk will bring you to a bus stop with a connection every 20min or so to right outside the door of CAE. Same bus stop has buses to Harleem which i mentioned before. Wifi in the house. Quite a few english channels on the tv. Short walk into the town of Nieuw Vennep (but there ain't much in there). There are 5 bedrooms in the house so you could share with others on your course. Have a look on the list and look for the house fitting that description it should be still on it. If not get back to me and i will send on the contact details of the guy who owns it. Best of luck with the TR's both af you i am certain you will enjoy it.
I did mine in CAE before xmas, i stayed in the college accomm right beside cae.
The rooms are a dump and the kitchen is worse. butttt its a 2min walk from the sims which is nice for the early starts and helps spend more time in the mock ups! try spend about 1 hour everyday in the mock up and you'll be laughing, do this from day one. i know guys who waited to week 2 and were really struggling after that. no need to do much more than a hour. there is wireless internet in there too. There are some supermarkets and a mall about 15min walk but nothin much to do there.
I haven't heard anything bout the brookfield cpntracts either.
I was emailed the contract a week or 2 before starting in EMA.
Shamrock/Heavy, i found that name on the list so i'll give it a go.
Regarding the Brookfield contract, did you guys set yourself up as a sole trader or a company and did you do this before you started the TR? The reason I ask is that I've been asked to supply a company name (if I have one) for the invoice for the TR. I haven't set anything up yet. Just wondering how you guys approached this. Again all advice is much appreciated.
Outside of that I would set it up 1st anyway cause you'll be far too busy to do it later on!!

Who has asked you to supply a company name? Brookfield?
Just an update on this as regards my situation...
I have spoken with my Accountant and he has advised me NOT to do this. He mentioned the Revenue and the possibilities if they got wind of it.
When you set yourself up as a business (i.e registered for vat etc)
You use your home as the registered business address you file your tax returns every two months(ie jan&feb should be filed by march).
also any other expenses like M50 toll /diner receipts purchase of a computer/mobile/home phone bills you claim the vat back its that simple.
and another thing keep records of every thing the revenue could decide to examine your books at any time.
if you need any more info drop me a mail
