    Visiting Ireland

    by taildragger@RI11 » Mon Jan 29, 2024 11:00 am

I am an active GA pilot in the US. I will be visiting Ireland in September for a couple of weeks and would like suggestions on aviation sites to visit. Museums are great but I tend to lean toward active GA airfields or flying clubs, fly-in events, aircraft collections, etc. Lodging on GA airfileds would be a great combo. Thanks in advance! :D

    Hi there,

Typically the fly-in season wraps up around September but keep an eye on the FII events page which is updated regularly with fly-in details https://flyinginireland.com/events-list/

If you're looking to fly I'd recommend Waterford Aero Club in the "sunny south east" of the country. Feel free to shoot me an email directly oisin.tierney@waterfordaeroclub.com

A few museums/collections if you're interested - Shannon Aviation Museum, Foynes Flying Boat Museum and Ulster Aviation Society. Shannon and Foynes are within 40 minutes of each other so could combine a trip there.

    Best regards,
    Oisín
