No, that was the gIV, the lear jet only arrived last year
and it's lack of use that cause all the problems on the GIV,
it's about 10 years old and only has about 600hrs on it, 90+% of flights are from bal-eidw or either of these to belfast, theres an occasional trip to brussells, and as mentioned further afield as well.

Was talking to a lad from the aircorp and he reconded that while Hector was on that flight he wrote 'Hector woz ere' on the back of the bathroom door.

Its well known fact in the states that most,if not all G-V's,are hanger queens, and are used on short hops, with an average of two pax. So nothing unusual about the Irish ship doing short hops.

Another major factor is that although it should be a hanger Queen it is not. Its spends a lot of time with the tail hanging out of the hanger because the hanger is too small. Thats why there was so much corrosion on the tail. It probably would have been 10 times cheaper to build the correct size hanger in the first place. However thats the sort of short sightedness the Air Corp are always up against with the Government. They must be so angry sometimes.

I think he did use it to go to the states i picked it up on shannon high level frequencies at FL430 direct to dub,then they requested descent etc.
