Hi guys..... I was REALLY looking forward to this event...... But I've just found out that it clashes with the Oxegen festival
I know this will effect no-1 here only me but I feel it's worth a mention..... I've NEVER missed an Oxegen festival......
I was thinking of possibly flying to Oxegen @ Punchestown.... Probably a long-shot tho... Busy weekend there...
Best wishes to all involved, I've personally flown to All the Islands and I rate them highly as a very nice place to visit... Also I feel it deserves a mention that EICM <Galway> isn't as GA un-friendly as everyone makes out, I'm sure on the day everyone who makes the trip will find that out...
    Anyways... That's my 2 cents!!!!

How could you fly to oxegen? Would you not need a heli to get in there?

Won't be going this year, the line up is.... substandard to say the least (except for Daft Punk of course, but I saw them in Marley Park in August).

It will be Electric Picnic in Laois for me again this year. I saw someone fly over it in a green X'Air last year on the Friday evening.

    Me: "Oh Look! An X-air"
My Friends: "Shut up about planes, we don't care."
    Me: "OK"

So anyway: Island hop. Yeah loads of po=eople have registered. It is looking good. Is this held in addition to Birr's fly-in?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

Forget about flying into Oxegen... I tried last year when I was bringing my son; the airfield is closed for the event.

    (weather is always crap anyway!)

    Hi Guys,
The Island Hop event is a seperate event to the Birr Fly-in. It is an event to promote microlighting in the country and in essence it is a fun event that sets a bit of a challange and something different. We have over 40 registered crews at the moment and quite a few more to come along from the UK if they can sort time off from work/family commitments. Birr have been extremely accomodating regarding the use of the field and with organising camping/toilets e.t.c............... it is all looking good at the moment for the event and should present a good showcase for microlighting in the country.

    Best regards,
    Jon Kilpatrick

I'm a recent PPL(A) but im looking to get into microlighting and have never flown in one before, so if anybody has a spare seat in one for the Island Hop I would really appreciate it and would be willing to share any costs incurred etc
    Cheers

On that point - what does PPL(A) have to do to be able to fly 3-axis microlights?

You need to do a 5 hour course to get a 3 axis Microlight rating on your license.
