Spanish Point Fly In 1st/2nd Sept

Post by Earhart » Thu Aug 23, 2012 9:07 pm

Spanish Point is welcoming visitors to the airfield on Saturday/Sunday 1st/2nd of September. Following a fantastic event last year, the team there is hoping that the weather will be good so they can play host to many friends, family and visitors on the day!

Unfortunately during the year Joe Ryan passed away, who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

This grass strip is about 550m long and the field is generally dry. However, if there is prolonged rain during the days preceeding the event, it may be too wet 'under-wheels' to hold the event. It is relatively easy to find directly south of Miltown Malbay and to the east of the Spanish Point Road. The bright red wind sock pin points the spot.
Camping areas are provided and festivities shall continue after the end of VFR in the town of Miltown Malbay!

Spanish Point Airfield Location:

N 52 50.813'
W009 24.871'
R 24/06
Freq: 123.30

Thankfully the weather has been kind to West Clare, which has allowed the field to dry out somewhat. Barring an unforecasted downpour, it looks like EISP will be active on Saturday and Sunday.

Looking forward to welcoming you all.
