Atlantic AirVenture Aviation Show Sunday August 28th will see exhibits and displays from all areas of the world of flight and aviation technology including an Air Display, Static display from NMAI ,
Amongst the exhibitions are RAF Air Cadets with a Hawker Hunter Cockpit, visitors can sit into the cockpit. There’s a static aircraft display from the NMAI,with fixed wing,weight shift and 3 axis microlights on show also the Irish Hang gliding and Paragliding Association will be there with their gear on display too. Shannon Airport Fire Services with be there with their latest equipment, a huge hit with the kids last year. Weather permitting, a display of Aerobatics by Gerry Humphreys in his RV7, a Pipistrel Sierra, the CHC Sikorsky Search and Rescue Helicopter plus a Fly Over by the ‘Iolar’ and maybe a few other local visitors! Free landing and parking fees in Shannon for the day. Transport available to the show.
Also on display will be Aer Lingus anniversary mosaic plaque designed and riveted by Aer Lingus engineer Connor Mc Carthy who broke the Guinness Book of Records recently for 12,613 rivets in five hours and 32 minutes, smashing the previous record of 11,200 rivets in nine hours.
A fantastic treat for classic car enthusiasts, Clare Classic and Vintage Club will make a make a stop on their re-enactment of the 1901 Motor Tour of Clare. Up to 50 classic and vintage cars will arrive from 2.00 - 3.30 pm. Air Atlanta Aero Engineering will be giving demonstrations of actual aircraft repair techniques, a rare insight into composites technology. University Limerick Dept of Aeronautical Engineering will demonstrate a wind tunnel and give advise on careers. Limerick Flying Club and Atlantic Flight Centre will be there to answer all questions on training options.
Especially for the younger model enthusiast is ‘Harry Ferguson Flyer’ free Workshop, where children get to make a balsa wood flyer replica of the famous Ferguson Flyer And EAA Chapter 1309 Young Eagles Pilots will be there to advise on the very first steps to a life in the skys.
Adults and children will have the chance to take a lesson in light aircraft simulator or test their skills landing the B 737-800 sim . Lots more on the day - a great family day out before the back to school blues set in!
