I am toying with the idea - any recommendations as to which days are best?

Thinking of hiring a camper van for the expedition.................

We try to get there on the Wednesday(reserved IFR slot), early enough to get parking in the antique area. Many say all the days are good as the show is so big. The airshow display gets better every day with the finale on the Saturday, quite the show. let me know if you decide to go.

Having found myself in Chicago right now due to a family bereavement. I was wondering about the practicalities of making Oshkosh? any ideas anyone? Whats the ideal way to do it? Is aircraft rental a practical proposition, anyone interested in renting and flying in ? All ideas appreciated TIA.

Well I for one will be there and would encourage you very strongly to visit. Renting an aircraft should not be a problem, with the usual checkout procedures, pretty much the same everywhere. Oshkosh's web page has a section "Essential AirVenture Information" http://www.airventure.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
not sure if your planning a visit to the show, but if not it is still worth a visit with a fantastic museum and outside attractions.

I would recommend Sleepy Hollow Farm if you dont mind camping.

Its a stones throw from the entrance. Get to know your neighbours at the campsite, you will be in for an aviation education!

I thought sleeping under your airplane wing was the usual?
