Businesses step in to save Portrush air show
The air show is one of the biggest events in the area's tourist season
Councillors in Coleraine have voted to hold the International Air Show after local businesses agreed to finance it.
Last month, the council said it was cancelling this year's show because it did not have the £70,000 to £80,000 it normally contributes.
However, the borough's chamber of commerce has agreed to cover the cost.
Lord Mayor Sandy Gilkinson said he was delighted to confirm that the event would take place at West Bay in Portrush in September.
He added: "On behalf of Coleraine Borough Council, I wish to thank the local business community and the chamber for coming together to save this spectacular event.
"It shows tremendous spirit in a difficult economic period."
Karen Yates, president of the Coleraine Borough Chamber of Commerce, said it was "fantastic news" for businesses along the north coast.
"It's not clear if businesses will have to finance the show in the future but we'll have to put a plan in place," she added.
