So we had pretty crap wx, but the flying, company and venue was fantastic. Thanks to the organisers for a great event and thanks especially to Hum, Eddie & Dave for the smoke and noise.

A few sign posts for the airfield wouldn't go amiss next year!

Ardfert Fly-in / Air Display

Post by redwing »

Ya an amazing turn out for such a bad day. Someone said there were 70 people in the hanger during the BBQ. Great support great enthusiasm.

Our fly-in became a gathering of people talking about planes. Young and old, some could-be pilots and some with over 40 years experience. All sipping tea and other beverages gathered around a small but important static display. The static display list:

The mighty Russian Sukoi26, A 1953 Bucker Jungmann, An Ardfert Resident the Savannah MXP740, Joe Dineen’s selection of Radio Control Stunt Planes and a beautiful 1923 Ford Model T.

Thanks to those who drove from Clare and Cork and other places and that man who arrived with a Para Motor glider ( hope thats the right title ) in his car.

Thanks to Smokie Joe and Roisin for the wonderful BBQ.

Anne and Betty for Tea, coffee, etc… need to mention the rhubarb tart.

To Sean Horgan for his organizational skills.

And to Brendan G for his optimism, and vision.
Without Bren it would not have happened.

Does anybody remember that film with Kevin Costner - Field of Dreams
“If you build it, they will come”,

Ardfert Fly-In

Post by RYR144 »

Thanks Redwing
I would also like to thank everyone for coming. On top of the list would be Redwing (Jimmy) for his music & help, David Bruton for his aero's in the Sukhoi and the Bucker Jungmann, Gerry Humphrey's in the RV7, Eddie Goggins in the Extra 300 & Shannon's S&R Sikorski Helicopter for the magnificent displays ye did!

We would also like to thank our brilliant Display Director David Fielding & the IAA for their help in making the display what it was. Even after taking into account the bad weather there was more of a turnout than last year!

Safe Flying,
