Ireland West Airport Knock Fly-In 2009

Post by Breeda » Wed May 06, 2009 10:56 am

Hi All,

A very big thank you to you all for attending our Fly-In at the weekend; without you there wouldn't have been an event - it was great to put faces to names and to finally get to meet you all.

When it came to the weather, I think there was a little bit more than luck involved - what a day; there were even reports of sunburn on the Saturday!!!

I hope you all enjoyed Saturday night and again, thanks to all for providing the entertainment; the singers, dancers, muscians - you're all a very talented bunch.

Due to the success at the weekend, the decision has been made; we have decided to make our Fly-In an annual event - I will be in touch with you soon regarding dates for your diary.

I will post a few pics in the coming days and would be grateful if any of you who have pics might share them.

Again, from all the gang here at Ireland West Airport Knock; A huge THANK YOU to all of you.

Chat soon,

Breeda.

Nice pics OB. Thanks for sharing. Very lucky with the weather. The last
three days in the NW were wet, wet, wet and windy.

Thanks for posting the photos. Who owns the Bellanca? it's an unusual machine. I saw a Viking once in the UK, beautifully made aeroplane.

Hi OTN,

The Bellanca is owned by cubpilot on this forum. He did a nice fly past at the Birr fly-in last month and is pictured in the current magazine.

Look out for an article on that particular aircraft in a future issue of the magazine, it's still in the early stages. :D

Regards,
Mark

You beat me to it Mark! Its fun trying to work out who is who... some are easier than others.. in this case the clue was here..

http://www.flyinginirelandmagazine.com/ ... php?t=4014

another clue to an even more interesting and rare machine operated by cubpilot (besides his cub) is in this thread... and its on the Irish Register

Actually the Bellanca at Knock last weekend had 3 regular forumites aboard who were so committed to the spirit of the fly-in that they even slept in tents at the airport in case they missed anything... :D

Thanks for that Mark/HUM

Is the BD5 the machine you're referring to?

That BD5 is CLASS! They say they are complete death-traps though, if you don't have the skillz to fly them right! Not benign or forgiving machines at all at all.

Anyone here ever flown one?

Thanks Mark. Not my favourite aeroplane, no offense Cubpilot, but great to see something a little different.
