2007 Fly-in dates

Post by jonkil » Wed Oct 11, 2006 9:46 pm

Hi Folks,
If it is possible can anyone mail me the clubs/airfields/organizations who hold an annual fly-in. I don't need contact numbers/names..... If I can get an idea what month and where it happens I will then take it from there. I need to add dates to http://www.IrishFlyIn.Com I think that if I do not pursue the dates and rely on individuals posting them on sites then it becomes erratic and sporadic.
Please mail details directly to me to events@IrishFlyIn.Com or post here and I will monitor the thread.
Many thanks in advance.

That means it will be on the same day as the Birr fly-in.
Pity it has to collide with another event.
Wasn't it in July last year ? ... I should remember I was there !

Could be well worth people's time of going to the Waterford one, there might be a few very nice surprises :)

I flew into waterford last year, but won't be able to this time.

Its such a pity that waterford should choose the same date as Birr Fly in.
Its also a pity that for lots of the summer there will be nothing on - and then too much on.

It means that BOTH events will suffer.

For such a small country you would think we could get it right.

BTW Birr announced their dates AT the Fly-in Last year.

Disapointed

KEV

Kev, we're having a slight problem as regards the dates. See, it is organised by Lambada Crazy, alphaLaura and myself with help from a few others in the club. All 3 of us are away at different times of the year, and the only weekends we are around, are the 4/5th august and 11/12th august. We -could- hold it on the 4/5th in order for it not to interfere with the Birr Fly-in, but it also clashes with the Letterkenny Fly-in. We'll put some thought into it later this evening and come to a final conclusion. We need the support from flyers as this event has to pay for itself on it's own two legs, and as you know yourself, organising these things ain't cheap.

I'll have a chat with Lambada Crazy and alphaLaura and see what they both think. Letterkenny is a good long trip up and they have a somewhat limited runway for some of the bigger boys ( twin Cessna's and the like ). Myself or LC will re-post later to a final and confirmed date.

Don't despair yet Kev.

Best Regards,
Flyer1

2 aircraft from Letterkenny were at Waterford last year, I am based at Letterkenny and organise the Letterkenny fly in...... BEWARE Flyer 1 !!
I like going to all the fly-in's I can and if it can be accomodated on a date that does not clash with another fly-in then all the better.
This is one of the reasons that www.IrishFlyin.Com was established, it allows the possibility of organising events that does not clash with others and informs everyone where/when it happens.
I will change the date for Waterford on the site to "un-confirmed" until I hear different.
BTW, Letterkenny now has a tarmac runway, 600 metres long
see http://www.LetterkennyFlyingClub.Com

Does any of the July dates not suit ?
14th or the 28th ?.... 21st is a fly-in in Crossmolina, Co.Mayo.
18th August is also free.
What about 1st September ?
I know it is difficult to get a date to accommodate everyone, but as EI-KEV states, if 2 events collide then inevitably BOTH suffer.
Waterford was in July last year if I recall? very warm spell of weather.

Sadly the three of us are only about on those two weekends. Lambada Crazy is away in the states for the whole of July doing his PPL.

I am aware that you're the organiser of the letterkenny fly-in jon, I dont mean for it to sound anyway brash.

We'll try look into it again, can't guarentee anything though.

Sounds much ado about nothing.

Why not have Birr on saturday, as already scheduled, and Waterford on Sunday, so the guys in Letterkenny can overnight in Birr and get a feed in Waterford on the Sunday.

Now, that sounds like good sense and a very, very nice weekend for anybody who flies.
