Final musings from me also, on what I think has been a fun, productive and lively debate.....

I think site admin (Mark) should first appoint a moderator he knows personally, and that's computer literate, a pilot and a regular fouromite (i'm sure admin can check who and how often somebody logs onto the site). I think there's 2 or 3 people that fall into that category.
Next that person could appoint 1 or 2 other person(s) that they know personally, and receive final approval by Mark by either meeting personally if possible, or by a phone call, and provide Mark with maybe their mobile phone number. (for fast contact should immediate forum decisions ned to be made)

Just a small add-on.... Extra mods need for the seemingly increasing pornographic posts that are appearing......

To be fair they're rarely there more than an hour which isn't bad....

Hi Donal,

I have an image verification module installed on the login page but I'm wading through lines of code to get the above "Login" link to redirect to the right page.....will hopefully have it sorted soon.

Regards,
Mark

Hmm, just discovered this topic. An interesting debate alright.

Anonymous membership dooesn't bother me, that's the nature of the net and I think the forum is fairly well run as is. People can air greivances at each other without big brother breathing down their necks, so long as it doesn't get out of hand. I think the balance is fine as it is.

What REALLY annoys me though is when "journalists" come on here lurking and looking for gossip and scandal after an aviation related incident... then publish hearsay and people's opinions as fact

www.boards.ie have charters in their forums, where the mods write a piece on what is and what isn't acceptable there. If members violate the terms of the charter they are advised as such. If they continue to do so they are banned / suspended.

They use vBulletin forum software.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
