General Board

Perhaps a general board would be good so we can talk about anything...

Off topic boards are good, but can be dangerous for the site as they often attract unwanted visitors (I know from experience). They take an awful lot of moderation and Mark would have to keep his eye on it.
I'm all for it though :D

yeah its not a huge problem. the thing to do is make it a private forum. create a group with the names of people who have been here a while. that way no outside visitors can even read the general chat forum.

Another suggestion for Mark would be to upgrade the version of phpbb he is running. Its completed outdated. I sent a pm about it last week but got no reply. I can log into this forum as anybody else here I want. Including mark. the admin. Its not a secure forum at the moment and its a well known exploit for this version of phpbb. Cmon mark, run the patch. Its free.

I know from managing quite a few discussion forums that 'general off-topic' sections are a handful. They DO get flooded with spam as the popularity of the website / discussion forum increases. Tight moderation is needed - or, as you mentioned, private access rules for regular members.

let me guess, rope?!

:lol: I still can't get my seat belt on gracefully at the beginning of my lessons - it's like: I pull one part across my lap, then lose grip on the one across my shoulder and let the right-hand-side one fall... I pick up the right hand one and after some seconds of fumbling I have my lap secure. Then I have to reach around and get the shoulder strap - while loosing grip a few times. Id have a whole checklist done by time I was fastened up.

Okay we're way off topic. I'm now saying yeah! to a general board!! :D

Ah good ole R22s, seat belts just like a cars :P

General board might be a good thing aswell, it will get people posting more regularly, some of the posts so far seem to be just quick questions.

:?: The clock on this site is all over the place :lol: :idea: Does anyone wish to come on line and talk realtime .it takes a mic a designated key on your board and a d/load of Teamspeak.We could send in a euro each to mark to the mag office if he cannot get the host program for free.How about it .its not rocket science. Be nice to hear the odd voice now and then . :idea: :arrow: DEL
