I was flying in Madrid a few months ago and I was heading back to the GA field to the West, called Cuatro Vientos, you have to skirt around some airspace belonging to an airfielf call getaffe. They make bits for Airbus' there I am told. The sky went Dark and I nearly crapped myself as I looked out to the right and saw that thing heading for me at what looked like the same altitude. I had an awful sinking feeling that I had busted the airspace, but the GPS and the chart said I was outside. He/She must have been doing a full procedure turn as they were using up all the airspace.

When you see that thing up in the air you just can't believe it could have gotten off the ground the first place. Its also very intimidating when its headed for you and your in a lawnmower like a C172!

It would remind you of the bumble bee. According to flight experts
it is aerodynamically unstable, therefore CANNOT fly, but, as we all
know, the bumble bee does fly and it does so extreamly well. All right
I know it's wings are probably going at a million kph, to keep it in the
air.

Hugo.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a photo of it in a spotting guide. Insane. It's like an inflated whale that's after swallowing a boeing. Weird.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

yeah I said the same. It looks like a whale. - or a submarine that got converted into an aircraft by 'monster garage' or something.

haha jeez cosmic thatd freak me out if I saw that coming towards my 172. Im surprised it didnt swallow you.

I still think Rallyes are uglier. Mind you they can also carry prodigious amounts of stuff...maybe there's some connection. Must be a French thing....

Ugly and all as the beluga's are, bear in mind they were not built for looks. Their purpose is to get Airbus parts from their manufacturing plants around Europe to the assembly plant in Toulouse. I'm sure I read somewhere that Boeing were planning on doing something similar to some of their B747's...... 8)

We all know the ugliest thing going is the A380. The front half of it is very wierd looking. The nose wheel looks too far forward and the nose is an ugly shape!

Well done airbus, another ugly aircraft. Thats 2 now.

And look at the A330....the tail is in the air when on the ground.

The 787 beats the A330/350 any day! Looks way more 'Down to Earth'
