Airfield Quiz

Ok here is a little airfield photo quiz that I think is perhaps not all that difficult to someone who has flown around Ireland a little. They can all be seen on the island of Ireland. It would be great to see someone else post their own photo quiz along similar lines e.g. grass strips would be much more difficult.

For the sheer torture of it I won't say yet what you have right or wrong or the answers to ones you missed and let a couple of others make a go of it.

G-JOYT aerodrome 3 is not any runway at Shannon. Mark has this one correct. There is another one that is incorrect still however.

Ok,

Well since noone seems to be certain I'll add a hint. Aerodrome 7 is not Ballyhalbert. Try a bit further west.

Is it in Ireland? Can an airfield be in it twice? Could it be Brittas Bay?.. No?..

P8,

I think aerodrome 7 might be Nutts Corner?

Well done Mark. It was actually the main airport in Northern Ireland for a period after WW2 until the 1960's. More can be found here

http://www.answers.com/topic/raf-nutts-corner

Now that you have correctly answered all of them perhaps you might throw up a photo of somewhere and see if we can guess the airfield, cockpit, aviation-related building or airline etc. keeping in line with Irish Aviation. Whoever guesses correctly gets to post their own of if they don't have a photo they can state it 'open' for anyone to post. Might be a bit of craic and i have seen it work well before in other fora.

Hi P8,

Sounds like a challenge  I'm trying to finish the September magazine at the moment but give me a few days and I'll come up with something!

Well done Mark. I knew it was ex WWII, but did not think of
Nutts Corner. I have a couple of aerials of strips, but I still
have'nt figured out how to send them to the forum. I can
post via standard e-mail.

Hugo.
