Are you using digital? If so the software that came with the camera should have a facility to export the photos to the web or by email. That being the case it should allow you resize the photo.

Optimum size I have found is 400 x 300 pixels. When saving the edited version do so as a copy so as to keep your original intact. Then paste the resized copy.
