Yeah, it was bad, and will likely turn out to be pilot error, didn't help that the site was totally unsuitable, but have none of you ever made a mistake? Never had a dodgy take off or landing in your career? Just remember if you ever do, and you are unlucky enough for it to end up on a public forum, there will be plenty of people to put the boot in..
The pilot has appeared on PPRUNE!

Hi everyone I am the pilot of the 350 and really don?t understand what the big deal is! I think it is pretty sad that some of you are trying to persecute me publicly and don?t have the balls to speak to me face to face. Also surprised at you southxross starting this thread. From someone in your position I would have expected a bit more sense, but will bear that in mind in future dealings. Ok any questions?

Regardless of the how and why it happened.............. I would have to say, hats off to the guy(or unlikely but, Gal) for retrieving the situation, and gaining control again. The pilot had the presence of mind to gain height for as long as it took, then, nose down for forward speed to gain TRC, and turned it into wind, and land again for a successfull outcome. Wheeew,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Hope I can do as well if ever end up in the same situation. Well done Buddy.......... Was it a successfull flight, ???? Can the machine be used again,?????? Dont be too quick to judge.....
More money, more lift.

Are you serious? Hats off to the guy? Presence of mind? The only thing that got him and his unfortunate passengers out of this situation was pure luck and lots of it. Even if it was through skill he recovered it (and I'm not suggesting it was), why did the tool think it was a good idea to make a bad situation worse by bringing the heli into a 100-200' hover in a single engine heli which has, in all likelihood, been overtorqued/temped etc.
Gross incompetence if you ask me.
