New R44

Hey,
I have taken the plunge and bought a new R44 Raven 2......

Cany wait for it to arrive now!!!!!!!

Anything i should get for it to keep it in good condition or that i could need down the road??

What's the lead time on one of those babys?

I heard of a guy buying a turbine heli (don't know what make) but the delivery took months and months. :shock:

Try 18 months wait on a new Eurocopter EC225!!!
That meant Shell bought Sikorsky 92's for the contract I'm starting on next week as they only take 6 months.
Worst bit is we had to attend Flight Safety in Palm Beach for 5 weeks as a result..... only place you can do the rating!!! :roll:

We bought it fom a distributor in the UK, and they had it pre ordered, we then had a bit of bargening power to buy it!!!!!

From order placement to now has been 7Weeks, and its off the production line in Calafornia next Friday..... Then has to be de-asembeled, air freighted hear, re-asmbeled and then given to me.........

so all in all, should be 11 or 12 weeks...... oh and a few ?'s.

Have to be honest, i have not stopped smiling since the order was signed!!!!

Congrats,

You need a hangar. They are prone to corrosion. Really keep it clean and waxed also very important. Use CorrosionX for the leading edge, not WD40 (ever on a helicopter)

Did you buy a towcart or something, otherwise it's (almost) impossible to handle alone. I made a simple towcart (manpowered) can email you a picture if you want.

Congrats on the purchase tiny... Welcome to the helicopter management busisness.

I work for a company who specialise in Maintainence Management and Sales of most helicopters inc R44. To be honest you do not have any real big worries with taking care of the 44. Keep it flying and when its not flying keep it hanagered.. A receipe for a great machine. From a person who has flown alot of different 44`s you can spot straight away which have been flown alot (good thing) and hanagered compared to those which are left outside and left idle. If you need to know anything at all regarding the machine feel fre to pm me. That point about the corrision is a very good point. Very prone to it over here. We tell people now to purchase the extra corrision proof coat when ordering the machine from Robinson. Well worth it... :wink:

Yea, i had heard about the corosion, I got the Corosion Protection option from Robinsons....

For the moment i just got a set of jocky wheles, would be intrested to see a Pic of your towcart as thats what my plan was {to get one made up hear} as i didnt and still dont really know where to hanger it!!!!!

Was also going to buy a cover for it, even if its inside..... Anyone know of somewhere i could get one??

Thanks for that, im hoping to get it hangered one place or another and plan to fly 3/4 times a week so should keep it current and moving!!!!

Mine came with a cover, but can't remember if it was an option. Where do you live I have hangarage available.

I actually live not to far from the Sugarloaf in county Wicklow..... A hanger would be handy!!!!
