If you're thinking about hot-wiring the N-reg one in the hangar at Kilrush, you may want to bring along a few strong lads as well to lift it out as I think the trolley-jack it sits on has discharged all its juice!

start up

Post by redwolf »

lol...i dont think its owner would be too pleased at that
no i was thinking of the more conventional way of starting a 500 up
depress starter, roll on throttle to 15% N1
and the rest

I really want to know is it all that different to starting a jet ranger.

What colour scheme has the one in the hanger at kilrush??

Silver with blue trim. Large yellow jacking trolley. Seems much loved - spotlessly clean and protective foam on leading edges of blades as insurance against us part-time ground handlers!

Because the skids make an awful scraping sound if you drag it sideways across the hangar....

I don't mean trolley jacks as in axle stands, it's an electric trolley with wheels capable of lifting the entire helicopter off the ground to facilitate ground handling by a single person. Obviously a 'Remove Before Flight' item!

I bought N9057F from Los Angeles County Sheriff and upgraded and flew it for twelve years mostly in Southern California. With the Chandler Evans fuel control and governor I put on N9057F, start can be initiated at 12% N1 and hand modulated. With the more common Bendix controls on most 206s you don't roll on below 15%.
