PPL Radio Telephony Course

Post by CHARLIEOSCAR » Sun Mar 04, 2012 5:07 pm

Does anyone know if there is a ground Radio Telephony course anywhere in Ireland or Northern Ireland. I think I need to get over the nervousness hurdle and think a day course would probably do me the world of good.

Would probably be better in a group scenario but any advise would be areciated.

I did an RT course (1 day, group) with Flightwise in Weston. I'm not sure if they'll be organising them regularly, but worth checking out.

Addendum: The courses shall be run every 4 months (2 days 1000hrs - 1630hrs). Next one, I am reliably informed, due to start last weekend in April/first weekend in May. Email brian@flightwise.ie

Another vote for Steve at EGAB. He will be able to run through the whole lot at your own pace over the course of a day. If you are aiming for a CAA EASA PPL Steve is authorised to issue a Level 6 (For Life) RT.

This is an excellent interactive guide issued by the CAA which will help get you familiar with your RT and thus improve your confidence.

Just happened upon this thread and went to mention Steve at EGAB, and was pleasantly surprised that he's already been mentioned twice.

He also helped me set up my Unified Communications system to integrate my phones with my radios.

Steve was very helpful and thorough at getting me up to speed with PPL. He comes highly recommended from me.

Thanks
John

Skywest Aviation have a course.
I trained with Skywest for my PPL(H), and the instructors are very very helpful.
I haven't had this particular course myself; but I've often been complimented on my RT - so I guess they're doing something right!

I know that Lee (the Skywest CFI in Weston), has some fixed wing time, so don't let the spinny things get to you if you're fixed wing!

At the very least, give them a call. It costs nothing to check all your options.
