Hi guys
I'm looking for more free advice!
Does anybody know of any websites where I could go and listen to audio of RT communications, Im in the process of obtaining the UK PPL and need to do get the radio operators licence, but the only radio experience I get is when im in the circuit, which isn't ideal really. I havent done many cross country's yet so I want to have as much radio work covered before the season starts again.
as always any assistance would be very much appreciated
best regards
Joe

Re: RT work
Joe,
The difficulty that you may have, is that pilots being human often don't use the standard phraseology which you will need to pass the exam.
Furthermore, American pilots will use very different phraseology to CAA pilots which again will lead you down the wrong path.
The best place to get the correct phraseology is CAP 413 which you can get by clicking here. It's the bible for UK phraseology, and it's what your RT examiner will expect you to follow.
I hope that helps.

The Airband radios can be picked up relatively cheaply, although though you want to be fairly close to an airport if you want to be able to hear much.

Joe,
I recommend the "Airspeak" audio CD's (available from most pilot supply stores) along with CAP 413 for RT exam preparation.
Good luck,
BC
