Remember that the incentive to give tricycle gear and yokes - as a opposed to sticks - to small aircraft was simply to make them more saleable to the motoring population.
The great plus about the taildragger as a trainer is verh simply that it 'puts manners on ye'
No amount of coaching by an instructor is anything like as effective

Re: Tail Wheel
I'm interested in flying a Piper Cub. Anybody Know any syndicates looking for new members in or around the Dublin Area?
Thanks

Re: Tail Wheel
When you say "fields" are you talking about grass runways, or fields with no runways?MCRO wrote:
The philosophy is odd : why should recreational pilot be keen to confine themselves to runways as opposed to fields - there are many more of te latter to choose from

Re: Tail Wheel
A very healthy proportion of fields are potential airfields : you only have to walk them, and maybe drive the car along at 40 m.p.h, to see if you can safely use them as an aerodrome
The idea of a grass runway only arises when you would like to invite your tricycle friends to fly in, or maybe get a licence to conduct training

Re: Tail Wheel
Just to let you know that the Recreational Flying Club based at Kilkenny can also provide tailwheel difference training on a Citabria 7GCBC G-CONR.
Re: Tail Wheel
Here is a great video of G-CONR in action, plus the Socato TB9.
