Well I received an email today, despite making it to the final interview stage it now appears that my UK qualifications do not meet the required standard.

To have gone this far and to discover this now when the IAA were fully aware of my qualifications seems unfair to say the least. But then I guess that is the rub of the green.

I wish you all every success in the future both with this programme and the remainder of your careers.

Don't worry man I feel your pain, I thought my qualifications were enough to see me through too.

Only found out a week after the preliminary interview that they weren't.

Have to look on the bright side, it's free aptitude and interview experience!

I cannot understand how such a big selection process by so called professionals, can overlook such a basic (albeit stupid) requirement. What is mind blowing is that, to take you to the final interview stage without having filtered out the basic requirements, possibly denied someone else the opportunity. I congratulate you for getting so far, it's obvious you were right for the job, which cannot be said for your interviewers.

Many thanks for your comments, I too find it almost impossible to understand how I have been rejected at this point, for this reason.

To me the situation seems to have been a waste of time for the IAA and a waste of time and money for me. I don't truthfully regret the ?600 I spent for my three trips to Dublin, as I felt at the time this was the right career choice for me. However, to be rejected in such a way has been a real kick in the teeth for me.

I am already a qualified Military controller with over 24 years experience behind me. This fact seems to account for nothing, yet exam results from all that time ago do count?

My family and I have been left devastated by this decision, after Christmas I shall have to refocus and try to find another job. I honestly feel I was the right candidate for the job but then I guess I would say that.

You might try the Air Corp in Baldonnel. It might not be exactly what you had in mind but I've been told that they lost quite a few of their controllers to Weston Airport last year and they might have a postion for someone of your experience.
