hi all, need help big time!!!
i just done my class 1 medical and failed the colour blindness test and the lantern test, anybosy got any suggestions on getting past this?
any approved eye specialists around approved by iaa? i did medical in mater private, and to be honest, im really peed off that i failed, lifetime dream and ambition gone down the drain in 15 mins!
any help what so ever would be really appreciated

Comiserations Rob. That's very unfortunate.

Why do you want to go see another Doc? There is no cure for colour blindness. Are you hoping to take a different test that you might have a chance of passing? Have you thought you would be better off not being a pilot if you are colour blind? The rule's there for a reason!

There are loads of different tests online. See if you can pass any of those before going to another eye doctor and wasting money being told the same thing.

Hi,
I have been down the same route as yourself failing the color blindness test. When I failed I received a letter from the IAA saying the furthest I could go is VFR Day only PPL which I now have.
I do know there is one final test that can be done. It involves going over to gatwick and getting them to flash different color lights at you from the tower. If you can pass this test then the restriction is lifted from your license.
The problem is if you have an IAA issued license im not sure if this test is an option. I think it's only for CAA PPL's. I could be wrong though.

Thats very unfortunate.

But, If you do get passed it somehow, you'll have to worry
about it every 5 yrs till your 30 due to your medical.
And then every 2 yrs onwards...... (I Think!)

It's not worth risking the money (As it's a hell of a lota money)

I renewed my class 2 last week and missed one card,
I saw it the sceond time no probs though (Doctor thought i was guessing then)
