Planespotting: A Place in the Sky - Aidan Quigley
In 1975, as part of the "My Own Place" series, Aidan Quigley, originally from Foxford, Co. Mayo, demonstrates how his work place is in the sky. He was working as an Aer Lingus captain on the North Atlantic route and the camera follows him as he goes about what was considered a very glamorous job at the time. He explains the daily routine of flying a jumbo jet and talks about how he started out as a pilot in the Aer Corps.

Did you see the meals they were serving back in the day. Along way from the tasteless rubbish you get today! Also interesting to note the half empty cabin on the 747. That was pretty much the feature throughout the 70's & 80's. Poor Loads throughout!! You needed to remortgage your home to buy a ticket on Aer Lingus to North America back then.. God Bless Reagan and Deregulation!!!
