747SP In Shannon

Post by Krusty » Wed Jan 12, 2005 5:56 pm

Spotted around midday today at Shannon. Globabl Peace Ambassadors 747SP. Picking up humanitarian aid for Asia or transiting with same I'd imagine.

Pic of her here :

Notice the reg of the aircraft? This was formerly operated by CAL and was the aircraft which survived a pretty dramatic incident after stalling at 41,000'. It rolled and lost a few pieces of its wing and fuselage, before landing safely at SFO.

No didn't notice the reg. It was parked on the 'secure' taxiway/area opposite the terminal where the C130s usually park, and I spotted it from the perimiter.

Although as far as I can gather they only have the 1 747SP (N4522V), so I'd take a stab that it's that one.

According to a thread running on A.net, the aircraft continued to Cincinnati after leaving SNN.

(Does Ohio need that much peace? I know it was a swing state in the last election - the one that gave us GWB. Thanks guys! :( )
