Dublin ATC Strike

Post by Lambada Crazy »

Hey,

Anyone know the reason for Dublin ATC to strike last night from 10.30 to 11.30, The radio was completely dead. I thought my speakers were broke. Atc told pilots that they should enquire when they land what the closure was that is was "ATC related" :)

Apparently there wasn't anybody available to cover the Tower during that period.

And the controllers are not doing overtime to cover, not a strike as such but action to get it accross that the boys ain't happy.

It is NOT a STRIKE. Neither is it any form of INDUSTRIAL ACTION. It is not in a controllers contract to work Overtime.

Like you guys out there Controllers are sick and tired of the IAA. The IAA is completely incompetent. IAA management have not got a clue as to how to run a Brothel let alone an Aviation related company.

They expect controllers to keep working well over and beyond what is safe levels of hours to keep the airspace running.

After all the job they are doing is primarily about SAFETY. But the IAA thinks its only about MONEY. Hence the head honcho is an Accountant. [/u]
