Cork Taxiway Required?

Post by N714GZ » Thu Aug 16, 2007 12:57 am

Have been doing a good bit of flying in and out of Cork lately and something that strikes me is that the lack of a taxiway for RWY 17/35 is very restrictive to aircraft operations and a possible inhibiting factor to expansion at the airport. The need to hold while the aircraft in front back tracks and takes off is something that I would imagine would put airlines off increasing routes and frequencies at the airport. It's a major albeit basic piece of airport infrastructure and it's something that will probably inhibit the new terminal ever realising it's full potential. Does anyone know if there are any plans to construct a taxiway for the airport?

It wouldnt require any major groundwork. Might affect the club ramp a small bit but I think there's enough room.
