New Low fares airline/ Destinations

Post by gar787 » Tue Jun 20, 2006 1:55 pm

What would you like to see if a new low fares airline was set up in Ireland? i.e. -
>Routes
>Aircraft
>Service

If you could design a new airline with everything you wanted what would it be like?

NOC-EMA, NOC-LPL and possibly NOC-GLA (If you advertise that last one you might actually find people on the flight, something BMI never grasped. )

I have had an airline up my sleeve for a while (Smile Intl Airways)

Based at Shannon- initial fleet would be B737's, B777's and maybe A340's later on.

Full service airline, with approx 8-10 first class seats on B737. 18 first class on long haul. Economy would have improved legroom and recline over other airlines.

Routes- MAJOR European cities. Wouldnt do a Ryanair. Routes would be examples of

Shannon to

Amsterdam, Alicante, Berlin, Barcelona, Boston, LA, Las Vegas, Orlando, Toronto, Newark, Budapest, Athens, Prague, Madrid, Seville, Sydney, Dubai, Auckland, Wellington, Cape Town, Bankok.

I know it sounds selfish to base it all at SNN. Would codeshare with other airlines to feed to SNN and transfer pax onwards, especially on longhaul.

Other bases would include Cork, Knock, Maybe kerry. If we would aquire some B763's or A310's or A319 CJ's to iniate Transatlantic services from CRK/KIR/NOC we'd do it gladly.

Fares would be considerable lower than major airlines. IE SNN-EWR return for approx ?600. First class from ?1500? I dno im probably talkin through my hat!!!!!!

Not a bad idea, but you would be entering into a pretty crowdedd market with some of those routes though

Maybe!

Post by doyler » Tue Oct 03, 2006 8:06 pm

Yea that would be true! Maybe to airports outside the city? Like Belfast Aldergrove to Belfast City with a BAE! or sumtime lke that and to start Long haul routes with A340-500s to New York. Fort Lauderdale(miami) and LAX (in direct competition with Aer Lingus)

A321? Aer Arann couldn't even get into double figure pax numbers per flight with an ATR42 on that route.

Why an A340-500? That's range overkill on short routes like that. More efficient to utilise an A330.
