Somehow, I don't think that'll stop them!

If their ambition was to join EI, then leaving FR/RE would just be a step in that. They've been there, done that and built up the hours.

Hi there
"Abandoned" is hardly the best term for people who were let go without having to repay any of the costs of their training and are being recalled on terms and conditions that are equal to a person with five years service! Most of them walked into other airlines with scarcely a backward glance. Not all of them are going to come back, as some of them are Captains now and wouldn't want to take a pay-cut.
The apprentice engineers who were let go are enjoying no such luxury.
regards

Recently I met a friend for a few pints,he was telling me a friend from college was one of those cadets, having being let go in 2001,he went to college, has just got his ordinary degree(BEng) and now called back with Aer Lingus.not bad, panned out ok.anyone know exactly how many went back?? i know theres a few Aer Aranns and ryanairs that may/may not of gone back.

stovepipe,i heard from a source that EI are going to advertise for apprentice engineers next year.Whats the story with the Aer Lingus heavy maintenace,is that all by SRT?? or are Aer Lingus trying to get it back.

About 30-35 are coming back. So far, 7 are back and are at various stages of the A320 conversion, with the rest to follow in groups of 4 every month or so.
