September visitor asking for aviation suggestions

Hello All,

I'm looking for advice on aviation-oriented activities around Dublin, Killarney, or points between. I will be visiting your beautiful country from Sunday the 2nd through Saturday the 8th of September for business. I've just discovered that all day of Sunday the 2nd, Thursday the 6th, and Saturday the 8th I will be free from business responsibilities. I fly into and out of Dublin, but I'm attending a conference in Killarney from the 3rd through the 7th.

I own and fly a Pitts Special S1-C and a Pietenpol Aircamper, but I am interested in any aviation-oriented activities that you can suggest on those days around Dublin or Killarney. Any suggestions, from full-on events to museum visits to just hanging out at small airfields, will be much appreciated.

Thanks much!

Hi Jeff,

Try Weston Airfield/Airport. It's primarily a training field and business aviation centre. Located 8.5nm W of Dublin city centre. Contact via land line 00353 (01) 621 7300. Also on facebook.

Or Newcastle Airfield Light fixed wing and heli activity operating from a grass strip. Contact at Flight-Ops: on mobile (cell) 00353 (0) 862394417. 18.5nm S of the city centre. Again on facebook.

Hugo Wilhare.

Thanks for the information and suggestions, Hugo.

In the event, I spent a great couple of days with Trevor and Anna at EIHH. Splendiferous ambassadors for Irish aviation!
