Hello,

Im looking for some advice on taking a short flight when I come over to Ireland for a short trip to visit friends. I don't want to get checked out in the plane, or even fly solo, just be able to go up with an instructor/fellow pilot for a short time, see a few things, and then land. Ive never been to Ireland before, and I think it would be really neat to be able to say Ive taken off and landed an airplane in Ireland.

Im an American with an ATPL who flies for a regional airline here in the US.

Ill be in County Clare, arriving 16 Oct and departing 20 Oct. Could anyone point me in the right direction of a school or club that I could rent a plane for a short flight to be able to say Ive flown in Ireland?

Ok probably you're a bit too soon but there are plans to operate sightseeing flights from Galway which is near enough to Clare, unfortunately not this year.

However there are now two possible options. One is the National Flight Centre (NFC) which is in Dublin. But the other and possibly more interesting is http://www.harbourflights.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They are operating scenic flights based on the NFC AOC in Mountshannon County Clare.

They currently operate a C172 amphibian. Rumour has it that a C206 is on the way.

Mountshannon is a particularly pretty spot.

Greg, there's a small airfield near Limerick City called Coonagh and a flying Club is based there.
They offer Trial Flights so I'm sure they would be able wx permitting to take you on a flight over the fabulous Cliffs of Moher, Aran islands and Galway Bay.

Hi Greg

There is a flying club called Phoenix Flying based in Shannon EINN, they fly a C172 but I think it has its annual at the moment. Coonagh in Limerick city would be next best here is there web address.

There is a flying club in Galway which is about an hour bus ride away from Shannon airport they may be able to help too.
