    Around the World for sport

    by hum » Fri Apr 15, 2011 1:38 pm

This C180 aircraft (N6TK) recently dropped in to say hello and have a break on its way Westward around the world. An auxiliary bladder tank gives it a mere 24 hours endurance

Fair play to them, that's some adventure. Did they start off in the states or is it a European N reg?

I wish my bladder had a 24hr endurance!!

Is private flying covered by the flight time limit's?. I thought only those flying commercial flights have to abide by these limit's. Of course common sense should prevail on all private flight time.

    Going west-about

    Next leg wick - Iceland - Greenland - N.America.

Biggest problem with long-distance flying over remore areas (esp in Africa) is avgas availability; also one sometimes has to avoid trouble/bureaucracy/corruption/war etc... Having a huge capacity gives you options.. :)

Remember when we are at approx 1,000 feet near westport in formation and I had to dump some payload to make it down
You mean when you had a brief skid along the dirt strip??

    Rather impressive undertaking indeed!

But 24 hrs Endurance is nothing new.

Lindy's Spirit was the very impressive holder of 45hrs Endurance.(They forecast it would take 40hrs)
But as we know he done it in 33.5.
