Beach landing in NY

Post by RV BLUE » Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:07 am

This is quite bizarre....I've flown Jones beach to get around Kennedy....500ft is low but saves climbing to 7,000ft

First, either walk the beach yourself or get a relible person to do it for you. Sand is notoriously unstable and it should not be taken for granted that because it was firm in the morning there is no guarantee it will be still be firm after the next tide. Most beaches are controlled by the relevent county councils and if you ask any of them the answer would be a definate NO.
Over the years I've come across info related to beach landings around the country but the only beach offically listed as a landing strip was Tra More, Downings Co Donegal during the 1950's-1960's. None are at the moment. It's your choice if you decide to land on a beach preferably pick a deserted beach, miles away from everyone else.
Basically there are no rules except some county councils do ban motor vehicles from their beaches. So you need to be careful not to pick up a fine for that.
