Any one know of the current status of these 'new' strips?

Do they still have those boulders on the mainland runway?

AOPA brought the Boulder issue to the IAA last October, they in turn informed the DoG of the consequences regarding a solid blocking structure on a runway whether in operation or not!

The boulders were removed and i remember Kitty saying she done about 3 or so T&G's in January with her Chevvron while home on a short break.

Just up at Cleggan last week, runway is in good condition. The white X's are very faint now .

Did a walk up the length of it, just a few very small pebbles, kicked most of them off.

Yes, i did a few t&g s and it was a smooth airflow day so there was no obstructions, no traffic and no control.
I enjoyed the approach from different levels both engine on and off, from different elevations too.

The scenery in this area is gorgeous and what better than watching that knowing there was nothing to distract you otherwise.

Looking forward to its opening if i am in Ireland.

Yes, I was over at the Clifden site two weeks ago. Got very intimate with the strip, twice. Very clean and plenty wide, though you do feel the gaps between the concrete sections..... I then overflew Inisboffin and was sorely tempted to stop for a cup of tea. When I got home, I took a look at the site on Google Maps.

Can someone take a look and tell me the runway markings are not painted at the wrong ends?

Affirm - they f'ed up the RWY markings. It can be windy as hell down there, well at least it was the day we called in. The landowner could in theory give you permission to land. The landowner may well own a "house hotel and marine spa" on the island..... Wont say anymore

Hopefully guys, I'll have the keys in my hands in a few weeks time of both strips so i'll have the tea organised for you all and i'll run up the west end of bofin with my white paint and change 02 to 20 to avoid confusion!

If you have these the airfields operational in a few weeks, that would be fantastic! I very much look forward to visiting Inishboffin.

Good to hear the news, and good that my brain is working.

Though aren't both ends wrong i.e. swapped? The way I figure it, the painter knew they had to put 02 on one end, and 20 on the other which is exactly what they did..............but on the wrong ends..............
