Birr Annual Fly In Sat 14th & Sun 15th

Post by Niallbhoy »

Hi All,

Just a quick note to remind everyone that the annual Birr flyin will take place on Sun 15th Aug. There will be activity on the Saturday afternoon also with some local displays and hopefully an appearance from the coastguard heli, and some parachute jumpers.

We will also have the local model club dispalying some of their fantastic models, along with a static display of vintage aircraft currently being restored and the recently restored Aeronca Sedan, along with lots more and the usual high standard of grub.

All are welcome for the 2 days or which ever you can make!

Heres hoping after 3 yrs of rain we might just get a break.

See u there.

I will second that!
I Arrived on airfield late Sat. afternoon (Delayed by other commitments)
Met many past comrades and a made a few new ones.
Quite a few new members to AOPA as well.
Like the new hanger! well done to the Ormond FC!
The Tiger Moth arrival was perhaps the highlight of my time there. Lookiing good too!
I wished i could have stayed over for the night session but, other arrangements prevented me.
Perhaps, on Ormonds next session i may have more time to spare.
Well done Ormond, great to see a casual, well organized flyin.

Yep, I agree with the above comments. I too went on the Sat and a great day was had by all. WX was great..if a little cloudy which made photography a bit of a nightmare. My thanks to the crew at Birr for affording me access to the field (in particular John Madden) and it was good to meet with some of the forum members. My seven year old son took a flight in the Crow and is now hankering after a PPL  ...he'll have to make do with a rendition of EIBR in FSX for now! I'm raging that I couldn't make the Sunday too, but I'd imagine it was just as busy if not more so.

I'll upload some pics if anyone wishes to see them. :)

We arrived up from Kerry on Sunday and all we can say is wow, what a fantastic day. Hats off to all involved for making this happen. Lovely to see so many aircraft coming from every corner of the country and indeed from across the water. See ye all again soon. Hopefully the WX will be good for EICN next weekend.
