Engine endurance tests showed considerably less wear on ethanol than on avgas. Consequently, it is estimated that the Time Between Overhaul (TBO) in an engine on ethanol could easily be extended by 100% over avgas.
This would represent a considerable saving in operational costs.

A mate of mine's brother is a process engineer and was comissioned to design an ethanol distillery in the UK to make this stuff,but they pulled the plug on the project when they realised that it would take 1.2 litres of oil to make a litre of ethanol.

how many litres of oil (presume crude) does it take to get a litre of Petrol or AvGas, for comparison purposes.

Is the 1,2 litres an all-inclusive figure, including allowances for transport, harvesting etc?
