Limetree Field Portarlington

Post by Bearcat » Sun Nov 21, 2004 2:55 pm

Had the pleasure of visiting this field today. Its hard to find especially when one has the wrong co ordinates. The corect Lat Long is N53 06.973 W007 14.616. The rwy is North/South oreintation 01/19. It is a well drained grass strip of 425 metres I think. There are no as such obstacles on the approach to 19. On the approach to 01 there are power cables but these have been buried under the approach to 01. The rwy is smooth as I said is well drained and good under foot.

For those of you minus a GPS, follow the railway south of portarlington for about two miles. I counted 3 bridges and its on the right hand side.

They are planning a fly in next summer and i will be back. Perfect place to park the machine and head upto portarlington for pints and medals. Accomodation is no probs.
