EI VII First Flight

Brand new Vans RV7 EI VII took to the air for the first time yesterday witnessed by several forumites. A very nice machine it is too!!

Well done to Brian and Stewart on your achievement!

Nice photo by bluebeard captures the magic moment - huge performance from a light strong airframe with an injected 180 HP lycoming driving a high performance MT 3-blade composite prop..

Sweet machines, I had a nice look at EI-DIY at the EIAB Fly-In on Saturday, Another beautiful machine.
I'll have to find one to go for a spin in...... I can see me buying/building one in the next decade

And maybe paint it like a Giraffe

Yea, it was from Brittas, don't know for sure where it will be based, possibly Birr.

I think bluebeard's 'blue' shot is probably the view from the ground about 10 seconds after liftoff climbing (zooming

) at best climb speed ... Felt a bit like the space shuttle... had to stop as it was about shoot up into controlled airspace 1 minute after liftoff without a flightplan...

Yes the "blue carpet" shot (sorry about that - just learning how to post images!) was taken a fraction of a second after the other one, as 'VII climbed skywards away from the audience.

I got to see some more of 'VII from its six o'clock later as I tried unsuccessfully to catch up

and I expect we'll see a lot more of it disappearing into the distance .......... looking forward to Harry's video!
