New UK GAR Form

Post by holyflyer » Mon Aug 03, 2009 5:46 pm

There is a small box in the latest Flying in Ireland about the new GAR Form.

The amendments are fairly cosmetic because this is stage 1 of an integrated on-line submission tool. UK Borders have invested in a dedicated Adobe server so that later this year or early 2010 you will be able to fill the form out online. Pressing submit will send it to all the relevant forces based on the filled in boxes.

The timing rules won't change.

Some say it is another UK big brother by stealth document. Gradually as the database grows they will build up a picture of GA planes and pilots that regularly transit UK airports. Individuals will be automatically checked against other government databases. This will lead to more 'intelligence led' deployment of UK Borders officers.

Scroll down to the end of page 4... the "Terrorist Hotline"... I know security is paramount, but maybe they could have called it something a bit less tabloid
