Tannkosh 17-19 July

Post by Bluebeard »

I am planning to fly to Tannkosh, and on the return legs of this flight (actually Switzerland [15 July] -Tannheim [17-19 July] -Ireland) it seems I will have a spare seat.

Anyone interested - form an orderly queue please!

[I.e. send me a pm ......]

Tannkosh report

What an event!! Catering for up to 1500 visiting aircraft and not a yellow jacket in sight.... not even a barrier for the flight line.

Superb facilities, organisation and a wonderful friendly athmosphere.

Despite the less than ideal weather aircraft flew in from all over Europe.. with bluebeard & hum just missing out to a Norwegian for the prize for the longest journey in...

Great displays each day interspersed with arrivals and departures. Ranging from the red bull corsair, through world class aerobatics from Nicolas Ivanoff in his edge 540 and the airfield owner - new Red Bull racer Mattias Dolderer in his amazing hovering extra, to a fabulous dusk display of mirror formation and airborne fireworks from the red bull glider team to a pristine 1929 Curtiss Robin where even the original highly-polished small brass screws on the cockpit floor had all their slots lined up like fore & aft tin soldiers...

For me, though, the most amazing sight was this:

By far the best fly-in I've ever been to...

One for the diary next year... and if you don't fancy flying there yourself, Ryanair fly from Dublin into Memmingen which is only 15 miles up the road...

That video captures it very nicely, Harry!

It was indeed a very good and well-organised fly-in.
