    Landing & Parking Charges

    by mulreany » Sun Apr 26, 2009 8:55 pm

Just back for an overnight trip to Waterford airport, and I was shocked by the parking charges. It cost me €30 landing, and €84 to park for 24 hours! Apart from large airports like Dublin, I have never had a per-hour parking charge applied. This would not entice me to fly there again. What do other people think of the charges at airports in Ireland? Should we have a table for the most expensive to the best value?

Yeah a table of current published charges and a seperate one of user experiences would be very beneficial. Public exposure of the difference between the best and worst could be very good for GA .

Just asking mulreany what type were you flying? I was there about 2 weeks ago in a type that weighs ~1200kgs all up and i was charged a tenner despite the fact their charges are 10 per tonne of part there-of.

Interesting...i havent checked their website but the girl at the reporting counter said its a tenner per tonne so you should have been a max of 20 for the landing fee. Parking fee was just a complete rip-off at 84 quid. Most places do charge per hour but also do a flat 24hr fee too.

PS just checked their website which says that its 12 euro per tonne for the first 4 tonnes so max should have been 24 euro. parking is 3 euro per hour or flat fee of 20 euro per night. Id be asking for a refund as you were grossly over charged. Unless you were operating commercially?

Thats why a table of published charges and another seperate one for actual user experiences would be invaluable.

PPS i have always found waterford to be very friendly, efficient and have not been over charged ever myself.

I have to agree with you. I don't have an issue with the service, Just the price. I did query the parking charge there and then, and was told the €24 overnight charge was from 10pm until 7am, and the €4 per hour charge (the charges must have gone up) had to be charged for the hours outside of that.
Oh and no... I was operating privately.

i remember parking in shannon with a sennica one day and i have to say everybody was very helpful, i think landing and parking charges for about 8 hours was only 30euro. have to say its the best and most helpful of the big airports to fly into.

Unfortunately I did phone Waterford, and they confirmed that the charges were correct. They did however, say they would review the charges.

    Mulreany,

I think in Waterford it is possible to park at the flying club rather than on the main ramp for aircraft around the size of a 210. This might be an option the next time you go there.
