Minister Cullens Helicopters Door "falls" off :)

Post by Lambada Crazy » Mon Mar 02, 2009 5:14 pm

It seems to be the situation that the irish defence forces likes throwing their doors away mid flight! Wasnt there an incident like this at the salthill airshow?

I love the way RTE describe it as "side door of the helicopter fell off at a height off 500ft" where an emergency landing followed.

"He has since continued his journey by road to Kerry Airport from where he is expected to get a flight back to Dublin" -Probably with Ryanair :)

When a flight is proceeding incredibly well, something was forgotten.

The other incident involved a British Merlin helicopter. The cause was suspected to be due to someone pulling the release handle whilst it was on the ground during a static display. Looks like Cullen or his aides did something similar.
It should have been checked ,surely, as part of the pre flight checks?

It's a precautionary landing by the way. The AW139 can fly with the rear doors opened as can most helicopters.
