Yes, no question, they had luck on their side but I wouldn't call it a miracle. That suggests to people that only an act of God will save people in an aircraft emergency. Let's not encourage the media's preying on people's fears.
Luck put them within range of the river and potential rescuers, the pilot, who incidently is a glider instructor, made full use of the luck and landed safely.
Oh yes, and if any us ever hear anyone say what's the point of the airline safety briefing - we have a duty to put them straight.

ps I am getting so tired of so-called journalists saying that an aircraft fell out of the sky - gravity is not as strong as they give it credit for.
