    Met Eireann New Self Briefing

by Lambada Crazy » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:04 am

Met Eireann have released their latest aviation weather service which is available free. The site has been running for some time but with limited user access. Today it has been released to the public. The site can be accessed at https://briefing.met.ie

It includes LAFs for nearly all the regionals etc.

All that is required is that the user is registered. Requests for registration should be sent to briefing@met.ie

The details to be provided are:

    o First name

    o Last name

    o Email address

    o Address

    o Phone Number

    o Company name

o Type (e.g. airline, club, flying school etc..)

    o Username

o Password (password must be at least 6 characters long)

    · Note: username and password are case sensitive.

Well Done Met Eireann! Great Idea, hope it works as well as it looks!

Is it released to the public because on reading the help page this arises:
The Met SBU is available to airline companies, services agents, managers of small airports and pilots who are designated as approved users by Met Éireann. Normally this applies to airlines that fly into or out of Irish airports. If you are a pilot then you should apply to your airline operations manager for a username and password
    My italics.

No problem for me as I'll be able to gain access through my work. But unless that help page is now out of date then the average PPL will have no access unless he or she is associated with some of the above.

I cannot help feeling that a charge will be associated with this!

Just to let people know I have signed up and I am only a club member of a flying club. I sent my details as requested and even though I still do not have confirmation yet by email I already have access.
It only takes two things to fly:--- airspeed and money.

How long dose it take from when you send the e-mail until they activate your account??

Finally, We no longer will have to spin around on one foot, see what way we fall over and how much it hurts to get some sort of WX in this 3rd world country we live in!!!!!

I would imagine that all 230 people viewed this thread have signed up for the service, so the guys in met eireann are probably sick of us already! 8) try log in under the username and password provided, they just might not have confirmed you yet.

It's brilliant. I signed up last night and got my confirmation within minutes at 10:30 p.m. Somebody was working late!

I am very impressed by the website and the quality of information available. Congratulations to Met Éireann for this invaluable resource.
