Tragic story, not sure why they tried the trip at all, the weather yesterday down there was complete muck.

Does anyone know if it was an IFR or VFR flight plan?

I was driving in the vicinity of the avoca that day and all i can say is the weather was appalling and forecast to be so 24hrs prior. One has to ask, why in gods name would one fly into such forecast and actual conditions ? 24 hrs later , blue skies and perfect conditions. very very sad with the loss of the mans wife, kid and a the kids friend....

Without resorting to speculation regarding the commander of the ill fated flight's decision to go I think we can all take something from this accident even at this early stage with regards to decision making on the ground and in the air
RIP, and condolences to all involved.
