I have emailed Wildfire Films to see if they plan to release it on DVD or perhaps make it downloadable. It would be a nice thing to have sold on online pilot supplies stores for instance. However I expect if they do do anything it will be for the whole series rather than just one episode.

    Hi all
I'm surprised there was no mention of Kevin Glynn's book, which is a very noteworthy achievement in it's own right.

If you have the latest version of Real Player you can download it to your laptop from the RTE website. 82Mb in size.
A good landing is one you can walk away from, a great landing is one where you can use the aircraft again.

It's not a download per se but rather a video stream. Also, it's GEO-Blocked. Are you in Ireland? Have you got an up-to-date version of Real Player?

I really don't know why RTE have the hots for Real Player format, but I have noticed that they do, so you'll have to procure a copy.

I received a reply from Wildfire films who say:

"At the moment, we're not 100% sure on whether there will be a DVD release of the doc, but I am sure we will be arrange to something. It may be a few weeks before there is any real movement on this, but somebody will get back to you then".

So if anyone else is looking to retain a copy of this documentary and is without access to the stars copies  then I suggest emailing the company to show the interest that is potentially out there for them.

I can't imagine another documentary of this quality with a focus on Irish GA coming out again anytime soon.

    Email is info@wildfirefilms.net

    Hi All,

Bet you were wondering wher I've been ..

I'm typing this (with difficulty) from Russia. I'm on holidays here with the family - Kaliningrad.

I havn't seen the program myself yet but I'm so excited by all the very kind comments. As I'm sure the others feel, it is nerve wrecking - hoping you will come across OK on TV. Not too much like a big head - know it all or not too much like 'Captain Chaos' (in my case)

Now I can relax (a bit) it seems and I hope that I have been sent a DVD to view the program when I return (sat 19th)

In the meantime - I have been dropping parachutists from an AN2 at an airfield in Russia.

NO SEAT BELTS, the dash falling on your lap, and the P1 treating this HUGE biplane like an X-Air ... not kidding.

I can't find a grin huge enough to represent my face ... :D

Its flying jim ... but not as we know it ...

Thanks again for the comments on the program, but sur I knew ye were a good lot ...

    Kev

    Another one here:
    http://www.independent.ie/national-news ... 28507.html

    which says:

"Figures from the Irish Aviation Authority reveal the number of high flyers with-private pilot's licences -- mainly for planes, along with helicopters and a handful of hot-air balloons -- went from 96 in 2003 to 1,007 this year"

When in fact the following was the number of non-commercial licenses:
    2002: 2274
    2003: 2576
    2004: 2043
    2005: 2294
    2006: 2345

with the following being the spl component:
    2002: 609
    2003: 868
    2004: 1185
    2005: 1352
    2006: 1354

    Some pretty bad reporting there.
