Should you wear a white shirt & black tie to a flight te

Post by EiMPB » Tue Mar 04, 2008 3:27 pm

This is a question I have often wondered the answer to and I saw it on the NFC thread in the Student area today!

Should you wear a white shirt and black tie to a flight test? Even for the PPL?

I certainly won't be anyway.

Tracksuit + T shirt (comfy) and puma speedcats (old and worn but great5 feel on the rudder pedals with 'em).
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

No for PPL , yes for CPL.

Just did my PPL test a month ago, wore a pair of jeans and a hoodie

Wouldn't do the same for the CPL though

No for PPL. (Assuming you are not at a school where you will end up with a CPL and the PPL is along the way).
Yes for CPL, FI, IR.
LPCs OPCs? Depends on the circumstances.
FI renewals. Yes.
IR renewals. Dunno yet.

I did my ppl in the usual jeans and a hoody! Completely agree with being comfy and as relaxed as you can!

Just wanted to see everyones opinion as I've heard a good few differing ones over the years!

Hi there
get a grip, people....white shirt, black tie every time you go for a renewal or test? What is it? The flying undertakers? The examiner would prefer if you were cleanly dressed and didn't smell.Cockpits, real or synthetic, are a bit too small for sharing body odour.......

S

Isnt a uniform for a person working in a profeesional capacity? PPL def no and CPL is pushing it too seen as your qualification will most likely be single enigine piston, if you pass. Have you ever seen a para dropper or crop sprayer wearing a colar and tie?

AlphaLaura - what do you mean you would not be wearing a tie. You would look great with it tied around you forehead - a bit 70's - before your time.

And no to shirt and tie for any exam - comfortable clothes every time. The examiner is there to examing your flying - not your clothes sense.
