Oh bugger....

(I'm sure all the tree hugging hippies will be delighted - I think this makes me even more disgusted than the actual airshow being cancelled!)
Ow! My boating arm...

Such a shame - yet we continue to pour millions into the GAA and the likes.

This country really and truly is a shambles.

Just heard this - very disappointed. It was one of the last decent 'attractions' this country had to offer. I guess it's understandable. If there was an entrance fee (however that could be arranged) I for one would have NO grudges about paying for it.

That's shocking. With 100,000 visitors, surely with the revenue coming in the council and local businesses would want to step in.

Introduce more advertising??

What about a voluntary contribution of services from the Irish aviation community. I hope the organisers have exhausted all the possibilities.

Does anyone know who actually organises it?

It's a pity really. I can't help feeling that it's another Galway own goal. It was always more tolerated than promoted by the local authorities. The incumbent mayor as often as not boycotted the show. They did give a grant but that was alway disputed by the local anti everything particularly if it's American, gang of lefties. In fact they were actually making another attempt to block the grant this year only the other day. They need not have bothered as it turned out.

I'm quite sure Bray will step into the breach or maybe another town somewhere around Ireland, who know a good thing when they see it.

Really disappointed, Well i suppose it's just gonna have to be a piss-up so :D

I'd sure as hell pay a entrance sorta fee if there was one :D

Sure Farnborough is on the 19th of July, It's only 1hr away.
And dead cheap

They should get onto Richard Branson about it, He'd definatly fund it :D
And get a Virgin Atlantic A340-600 or a
B747-400 to do a flyby on one of it's flights on the way back from the states
Now that'd be class :D :D

Richard Branson? Why? Because of all the Irish airports Virgin operate from?

Brian, Craolyn and all involved sorry to hear the news and thanks for all the thrills over the years.

Remember the 'Mach1' airshow that was called off?

Any hope of that surfacing again I wonder?

i would just like to thank the organisers and volunteers who have brought us the airshow in galway over the years...they have put up with a lot of opposition and at times hate mail and the like from the few small minded people who seemed to think any military aircraft at the show was either coming from or going to bomb some innocent souls somewhere... i for one hope they will get the support they deserve and get to give the irish avation enthusiast's some more memorable moments....here's to Brian..Carolyn and Tony..... thanks for all the memories.... :D
